Bottled Water Shipments Diverted To Toledo; Shortages Seen

The search for potable water for residents of Toledo has expanded to other parts of Ohio. Supermarket chain Kroger yesterday diverted more than 16 tractor-trailers carrying bottled water from Columbus to Toledo-area stores. Another 16 trucks, each capable of carrying 40,000 16-ounce bottles of water, or about 5,000 gallons, were to leave later yesterday. Some reports of bottled water shortages in stores had been reported in the state. Kroger imposed a four-case-per-family limit on bottled water purchases in the Toledo area.
