Coke Japan Launching Heated Ginger Ale

Coca-Cola is launching a first among its scores of beverage selections: a heated carbonated drink. After four years of development, Coca-Cola Japan is putting a “hot” Canada Dry Ginger Ale in vending machines beginning Oct. 21. Absolut Launches Oak-Aged Amber

Liquor supplier Pernod Ricard Travel Retail has issued a new edition of its Absolut vodka brand. Absolut Amber takes the essence of Absolut and adds a rich, complex character from gently-roasted oak wood. It is a transformative new product that combines white and dark spirits. (DFNI Online)


French Wine Group Warns Apple Against 'Champagne' iPhone

French wine enthusiasts won't be popping bottles in honor of the rumored iPhone 5S color anytime soon. The Interprofessional Committee for Champagne Wine (CIVC) has made it clear it will wage war with Apple should the tech giant deem its new pale gold iPhone "champagne." The trade association insists that the bubbly comes in more than one shade. (NY Daily News)


Panache Closes on Distillery Acquisition

Panache Beverage, Inc., producer of Wódka Vodka and Alibi American Whiskey, has closed on its acquisition of the Empire Winery and Distillery, officially changing the name to Panache Distillery. The acquisition of the distillery enables Panache to vertically integrate its supply chain while opening up new business opportunities for the public company. Panache expects to move production of its top-selling national spirits brands Wódka Vodka and Alibi American Whiskey to the distillery in early 2014 while adding bulk spirits production and turnkey third-party contract distillation to its business offerings.


Suntory May Buy Lucozade and Ribena

The Japanese company Suntory Beverage & Food is in secret talks with GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) about a takeover of Lucozade and Ribena, two of Britain's most popular soft drinks. Sky News can exclusively reveal that Suntory has been in detailed discussions with GSK for the last few weeks about an offer that would pre-empt an auction of the two brands that was due to get underway later this month. Bai Brands, maker of a line of all-natural, 5-calorie antioxidant-infused beverages, announced that popular online grocer FreshDirect now carries Bai 5’s full product line. To introduce customers to the brand, FreshDirect will provide free samples of Bai 5-Calorie Antioxidant Infusions for eligible customer orders for a limited time.
